The North American Plant Collections Consortium (NAPCC) is a network of botanical gardens and arboreta working to coordinate a continent-wide approach to plant germplasm preservation, and to promote high standards of plant collections management.
Participating institutions commit to holding and developing a collection(s) of documented living plants according to professional standards of collections management. They share collections information with other institutions to compare holdings and to identify duplications and gaps. This approach makes efficient use of available resources, strengthening collections through combined collaborative activities.
NAPCC Collection holders make germplasm available for selection and breeding, taxonomic studies, evaluation, utilization, and other research purposes. NAPCC Collections may serve as reference collections for plant identification and cultivar registration.
